The Ducal Palace of San Cesario di Lecce has been renovated to ensure accessibility and safety, thanks to the installation of a new Class A elevator and a handrail. A project that enhances the historical heritage, making it accessible to all with innovative and sustainable solutions.

Adaptation of the ducal palace of San Cesario di Lecce

In 2015, the Doge’s Palace of San Cesario di Lecce was renovated to improve accessibility and safety. Located in the heart of the village, this historic building, an architectural and cultural landmark, is now also accessible to people with reduced mobility thanks to innovative solutions.

Barrier-free accessibility: new lift and stairlift

The main intervention concerned the replacement of the elevator, now obsolete and not in compliance with the regulations. The old cabin, small and with narrow doors, limited the use to people with motor disabilities and, due to wear and tear, did not guarantee safety or continuity of service.

Innovative and efficient lift

The new lift, certified Class A, offers high performance and energy savings of up to 80% compared to a hydraulic model and up to 60% compared to a standard electric model. The cab, designed to optimize space, is larger and makes the best use of the compartment thanks to the mechanical part on one side.

Accessibility to upper floors

Between the first and second floors, there is a lift-platform ladder designed for the safe transport of people with reduced mobility. This solution eliminates internal architectural barriers, guaranteeing everyone access to the building’s spaces.

Efficiency and sustainability

The new, reliable and sustainable lift reduces fuel consumption thanks to its Class A certification. The optimised structure reduces mechanical footprint, offering more space and improving safety and ergonomics.

Historical heritage for all

The Ducal Palace of San Cesario di Lecce is now an accessible and safe space, where architectural tradition integrates with modern needs for inclusive mobility. An intervention that enhances the cultural heritage, making it accessible to the whole community and promoting energy saving.
